Meet the team: Hristiyan Vasilev, Customer Service Representative

Sprintax

We often get asked about the career opportunities that are available within Taxback Group. The truth is… the opportunities are endless!

While a job title may come across as intimidating, the majority of our entry-level roles involve nothing that any driven and motivated person can’t learn.

In this series of posts, we’ll meet colleagues from various teams and departments and explore the many career paths available at Taxback Group. We’ll be hearing about everything from their role in the company to what being part of #OneTeam means to them.

We chatted to Hristiyan Vasilev who has been working as a Customer Service Agent for our Sprintax Team for nearly five years. Check out what he had to share with us below.

Please tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Hristiyan Vasilev. I work as a Customer Service Agent for Sprintax. Sprintax provides a tax preparation software and services for United States nonresident aliens. Recently on the first of December I started my 5th year in the Taxback Group.

Could you tell us more about your role in the company?

I deal mostly with International Students. I help them with any queries that they might have regarding the Sprintax software and I provide general guidelines regarding tax filing. The communication I do with customers is mainly done via the free live chat service, via e-mail or over the phone.

In addition to that, I also assist certain U.S. universities with specific queries. For example, I help resident aliens from the University of Cincinnati, which qualify for a tax treaty or students from Lewis and Clark College, which receive communication from the Oregon Department of Revenue.

Furthermore, I am also trained in Australian, Canadian and Irish tax services and I had to pleasure to support my colleagues from Taxback.com multiple times.

Moreover, I appreciate that I have the opportunity to help train new Sprintax employees in preparation for the US tax filing season.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Usually my day starts with making a to do list of everything I have to complete during my shift and prioritizing the tasks that I need to do first. After that, I often discuss with my colleagues or my Team Leader Desislava Drazhkova any day specific tasks or objectives that we might have.

In addition to that, I often make time out of my work schedule to help and support some of the new colleagues from my team.

What’s your best memory to date?

My best memory is when I won the Employee of the Year award for 2019. It was amazing to have my performance appreciated and acknowledged in such a way.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned since joining Taxback Group?

If I have to pick only one thing, I would say to always take on new challenges and never miss the opportunity to learn from them.

If you could give someone who was starting out in their career one piece of advice, what would it be?

Always be on time. Show respect to other people and treat them the way you wish to be treated. If you do not understand something, you should always ask. Work hard and enjoy the process.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Over the next couple of years, I want to further explore and develop my skills, work ethic, and gain more experience in managing people. In five years I need to have gained experience which will allow me to tackle more difficult tasks and the ability to manage a lot of people.

What does being part of #OneTeam mean to you?

For me, it means working together and helping each other to achieve one shared goal.
