Charity begins at home – The Taxback Group and World Parkinson’s Day
This year, The Taxback Group opened up its Corporate Social Responsibility Program entirely to our staff. Back in January, we asked our staff for suggestions on which causes they wanted to support, and what causes were close to their heart. These suggestions have been used to build our calendar for the year, with each quarter taking a different theme. Over the next three months, The Taxback Group will be devoting itself to the elderly and unwell. The first beneficiary? The Parkinson’s Association of Ireland.
2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Parkinson’s Association, a charity committed to providing support, information, and a listening ear for anyone affected by the condition. With almost 20 volunteer-staffed branches around Ireland, the work and support they provide is quite simply incredible.
Two of our friends and colleagues, John Murphy and Éanna Brady, know first-hand the valued service provided by this charity. With both of their fathers living with Parkinson’s, John and Éanna were always keen to support this charity. So they came to us, to give back with Taxback.
As the email from our CSR team went out to our staff, requesting suggestions for causes they want to support for 2017, the response was incredible. One of our very first respondents was Éanna Brady. This charity is very close to Éanna’s heart, as although his father continues to play golf and is quite mobile, the level of support needed continues to grow. Éanna also highlighted to us, the fact that Parkinson’s Association do not receive any state funding.
John Murphy’s request on the other hand, came in through a slightly more arduous process for John, as he won our Operation Transformation competition here in the offices, to win a donation to a charity of his choice from our CSR Team. Much like Éanna, John relished to opportunity to provide additional support to his father. And again, our team here were honoured to help.
The result? Two donations have recently been made to the Parkinson’s Association from all of us here at The Taxback Group, adding to the 10 other charity donations we have already made this year. The funds provided will go toward supporting the continued heartwarming work the Association provides each and every day.
We are absolutely honoured to celebrate this year’s World Parkinson’s Day with this quick insight in to the values of our company and our staff. We wish all of you who are affected by this disease, continued strength and positivity. And we thank you John and Éanna for helping us support an astounding cause.
